Internal Medicine Specialty-Internal medicine or general medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. This is Dr. Kene Anamekwe’s primary specialty and Vivify Wellness Center should be your first port of call for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of your medical problems.
Primary Care Services-This is health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses which is the heart of internal medicine specialty and Dr. Kene Anamekwe is devoted to helping her patient’s achieve their individual goals of improved health.
Preventive Medicine– Preventive healthcare (alternately preventive medicine or prophylaxis) consists of measures taken for disease prevention, as opposed to disease treatment. With core wellness being a priority of Dr. Kene Anamekwe, she takes preventive care to a higher level while encouraging her patient to adopt healthier and active life style.
Well Woman Exam (Pap smear) – A well woman examination is an exam offered to women to review elements of their reproductive health. It is recommended once a year for most women. The exam includes a breast examination, a pelvic examination and a pap smear but may also include other procedures. Dr. Kene Anamekwe knows that this is a personal and private examination for women and provides this in a comfortable setting to help relieve the intense anxiety most women present with.
Diabetes Mellitus–Diabetes mellitus (DM), commonly referred to as diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders in which there are high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period. Dr. Kene Anamekwe will offer necessary medications but most importantly educates her patient on how to make dietary changes that best benefits their disease and hence slow down progression there by preventing complications of the disease.
High Blood Pressure–High blood pressure is a common disease in which blood flows through blood vessels (arteries) at higher than normal pressure. Many suffers go undetected because they may not have symptoms. Dr. Kene Anamekwe uses medication and life style intervention to help her patients lower their blood pressure and avoid irreversible complications like stroke, kidney and heart failure.
High Cholesterol-The body uses cholesterol to produce many hormones,vitamin D, and the bile acids that help to digest fat. It takes only a small amount of cholesterol in the blood to meet these needs. If a person has too much cholesterol in the bloodstream, the excess may be deposited along the walls of arteries, including the coronary arteries of the heart, the carotid arteries to the brain, and the arteries that supply blood to the legs and the intestines, putting them at a higher risk for heart attack, TIA, stroke, and peripheral artery disease. Dr. Kene Anamekwe helps her patient achieve healthier cholesterol level by appropriate life style intervention and medication if needed.
Thyroid Treatment-Thyroid disorders are conditions that affect the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck. The thyroid has important roles to regulate numerous metabolic processes throughout the body. Different types of thyroid disorders affect either its structure or function. Whatever they etiology of your thyroid condition, Dr. Kene Anamekwe will help you reach healthy hormone levels for optimal body functioning.
Anemia–Anemia is a condition that develops when your blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a main part of red blood cells and binds oxygen. If you have too few or abnormal red blood cells, or your hemoglobin is abnormal or low, the cells in your body will not get enough oxygen resulting in one feeling weak, fatigue and dizzy. Dr. Kene Anamekwe will assist in unravelling the etiology of your anemia and institute appropriate treatment to improve your blood count and restore your healthy and energy.
Pre-Op Clearance– The goal of the preoperative clearance (Preoperative medical assessment) is to assess the patient’s general medical condition in order to identify any unrecognized co-morbid diseases and optimize the patient’s state for the planned surgical procedure. The preoperative medical assessment helps the doctors to decide if the patient is suitable for the proposed surgery according to the patient’s risk category, also it helps them to identify the factors that may reduce the patient’s risk for complications and provide the best possible recommendations for the post-operative care. Dr. Kene Anamekwe will work with your Surgeon to ensure a safe pre and post-surgical outcome for you.

The branch of medicine that deals with the study and treatment of obesity is known as Bariatrics or Bariatric Medicine. Obesity has become a major health problem in the United States, with the most recent data, showing adult obesity rates now exceed 35 percent in four states. Texas, now has the 10th highest adult obesity rate in the nation, according to The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America released September 2016. Texas’s adult obesity rate is currently 32.4 percent, up from 21.7 percent in the year 2000. Dr. Kene Anamekwe had been practicing medicine for about 2 decades. As a board certified internal medicine physician, she believes in treating the whole patient in a cost-effective manner.
We provide acute and chronic disease management, diagnostic and preventive care in late adolescents and adults. Our medical services include primary care service, medication management, preventive care and chronic disease management.
Making an appointment is easy. You can request an appointment online. Appointment times vary depending on if you are a new or established patient and may range from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. We ask that every new patient bring their bottle of medication to the first appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. We reserve the right to charge $25 for a confirmed appointment that is missed without advance notification. You will receive an email and a text appointment reminder.
